Chairman Kim Rogers Supports Hospital Sale?

Breaking News!!!!!

United for Union has learned of a special meeting on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 which Union County Commissioners and the Town Council of Waxhaw will meet. The Waxhaw Town Council is set to bring forth a resolution OPPOSING the sale of CMC-Union.

As is standard practice, if a majority of commissioners are meeting where county business COULD be acted upon, as stated by law, a special meeting notice MUST be made public at least 48 hours prior to a meeting.

What is interesting is that Kim Rogers refused to sign this notice. Why is this? United for Union sees a trend. Last January, Lanny Openshaw refused to sign a special meeting notice so the finance office could act to protect our bond rating on Wall Street. It was said that Mr. Openshaw wanted this pot of money specifically for parks and libraries. The actual intent of the meeting was NOT to spend the money rather to move it into a different account to show Wall Street that Union County was in good standing.

Now Kim Rogers' first act as chairman is to follow Lanny Openshaw's example of poor leadership. What is she hiding? Does she already have a deal in place to sell CMC-Union? Word on the street is that she and Lanny Openshaw have secretly met with other healthcare businesses eager to buy CMC-Union. Folks, you might recall that Chairman Kim Rogers campaigned on transparent government. Yet she is also to allow any "public work session" that deals with CMC-Union to be televised! Union County citizens DESERVE transparent government! Enough is enough!!

Email Kim Rogers and ask her what she's hiding? What is she doing behind closed doors!

  1. What a shame that chairwoman is acting so in appropriately! I voted for Kim and Tracy because I felt we needed a new direction, but this is not what I had in mind.

  2. I am having difficulty in finding out the particulars on the hospital sale. There are two major stumbling blocks that no one who supports the sale can answer adequately to me:

    1. Is the sale restricted only to Public Service Providers? If the hospital were sold as a convalescent facility, a VA hospital, Cancer Treatment Centers of America hospital or even a speculator who wanted to make it into a Super Wal-Mart site, would the commissioners still agree? Is it OK with them that we would have no public hospital at all?

    2. There has been figures ranging from $20 - $35 million that the hospital provided to our indigent at no cost to the county. Would the County have to pay or would the service just be discontinued? Does anybody know or care what will happen to the citizens of central and eastern Union County who need medical care?

There is a moral question for the commissioners from the affluent West. Has God not laid out a sufficiently bountiful table for you? I would not ask for you to share, but is it necessary to take from the table of your poorer brethren when they have so little already?

  3. What a shame if true. My mother always told me to be a person of your word. To drive some secret agenda scares me and it is obvious, the majority does not want this available to the citizens of Union County!

I am a grandfather, father, son, retired business man, and active member in my church and local civic club. I rely on the television and Internet to follow the workings of this group. Though I don't always agree, I am slow to attack if I diagree.

HOWEVER, hiding these meeting is simply WRONG! I might even support you Mrs. Rogers, but how would I know if you aren't even willing to sign a special meeting notice. Your agenda will get the best of you if you don't provide the transparency that I expected when voted for you.

    Stop the madness............you are chairman!!!

  4. What did you expect from an undercover liberal? Lanny Openshaw was just as bad, but bless his heart, he was clueless on how to drive an agenda.

My family and I are working now to defeat him!!! That is how you can get change without voting for a liberal!
